Tack (“the App”) is a community-driven, location-based platform that allows people to share and discover public information such as safety alerts, missing items, local events, and community updates. Your privacy matters to us, and this Privacy Policy explains how Tack collects, uses, and protects information.
1. Information We Collect
a. Anonymous User Identification
- Tack uses anonymous authentication.
- No name, email address, phone number, or personal account is required.
- Each device is assigned a random, non-identifying user ID used only to:
- Associate pins you create
- Allow editing or deleting your own pins
- Help prevent abuse
This identifier does not personally identify you.
b. Location Information
- Tack may access approximate or precise location only to:
- Show nearby pins
- Allow you to place pins on the map
- Location is not tracked in the background.
- Your location is never shared with other users.
- You can disable location access at any time in system settings.
c. User-Generated Content
When you create a pin, Tack collects:
- Pin title and description
- Category (e.g., Hazard, Missing Pet, Community)
- Geographic coordinates
- Optional photos or videos you choose to upload
- Community association (if applicable)
All pins you publish are publicly visible.
d. Media Uploads
- Photos and videos are uploaded only when you choose to attach them to a pin.
- Media is stored securely using cloud storage.
- Tack does not access your photo library or camera without permission.
e. Community Information
- Community names and descriptions are public.
- Some communities may be private or restricted by the creator.
- Tack does not sell or monetize community data.
2. How We Use Information
Information is used to:
- Display pins on the map
- Enable community features
- Allow users to manage their own content
- Moderate and remove abusive content
- Maintain app performance and stability
Tack does not:
- Sell user data
- Track users across apps or websites
- Use data for advertising or profiling
3. Data Storage & Security
- Data is stored using secure cloud infrastructure.
- Anonymous user IDs are stored securely and locally on your device.
- Reasonable technical safeguards are used to protect data.
4. Reporting & Moderation
- Users can report pins that are inappropriate, misleading, or unsafe.
- Reported pins may be hidden and reviewed.
- Abuse prevention may rely on anonymous identifiers to limit repeated misuse.
5. Data Retention
- Pins may automatically expire after a set time depending on category.
- Users may delete their own pins at any time.
- Removed or expired content is deleted from active systems.
6. Third-Party Services
Tack uses third-party services strictly for functionality:
- Cloud database and storage
- Mapping services
These services are not used for advertising.
7. Children’s Privacy
Tack is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Choices & Controls
You can:
- Disable location access
- Choose not to upload media
- Delete your own pins
- Stop using the app at any time
Uninstalling the app removes the local anonymous identifier from your device.
